At Mtaani Foundation, we are on a mission to bring hope and transformation to the lives of street children in Kampala. Our dedicated team is committed to rescuing these vulnerable children from the harsh realities of life on the streets, providing them with essential care, rehabilitation, and an opportunity for a brighter future. Through our multifaceted approach, we address the complex challenges these children face and strive to create a lasting impact in their lives.
1.Street Outreach
In our Street Outreach program, we actively venture into the children's hideouts on the streets. Our ultimate goal is to connect with them on a personal level, share a message of hope through the gospel, and show them that they are valued members of society. In our outreach mission, we focus on building genuine relationships with these children, earning their trust, and creating a safe space where they can express themselves freely. Our compassionate approach allows us to better understand their unique circumstances and challenges. In addition to emotional support, we provide much-needed practical support. It provides medical and dental care, nutritious food and warm clothing to help immediately improve their living conditions. With these acts of kindness and support, we aim to inspire them to consider getting off the streets, and give them alternatives to a better future.
2. Rescue and Safe Shelter
We are the helping hand that reaches out to street children in their darkest moments. Our outreach teams comb the streets of Kampala, identifying children in need and offering them a safe haven away from the dangers of the streets. We provide immediate access to food, clothing, and medical attention, showering them with love and care.
3. Rehabilitation
We focus on healing not only the physical wounds but also the emotional and psychological scars that street children may carry. We offer counseling, trauma-informed care, and recreational activities to nurture their sense of well-being and self-confidence.
4. Education and Skill Development
Education is a powerful tool for transformation. We ensure that each child receives access to quality education, enabling them to break the cycle of poverty and envision a brighter future. Additionally, we offer skill development workshops to equip them with practical abilities that will open doors to various opportunities.
5. Family Reunification and Foster Care
Reuniting children with their families is a cherished goal. We work diligently to mediate and facilitate the process of reuniting street children with their biological families, fostering an environment of love and acceptance. When family reunification is not possible, we diligently find loving foster parents who will provide a nurturing environment for these children
6. Spiritual Nourishment
Central to our approach is the spiritual guidance we offer. We share the message of hope, love, and grace found in the Bible, nurturing the children's faith and encouraging them to embrace positive values.
